This is the cartoon plane that he designed. Not quite sure
why he wanted to build a cartoon plane, but it sure turned out to be a cute one.
When he first started building the parts,
I thought it was looking a lot like
Nemo, then along came the wings. All 5 of them!
Slowly but surely, the pieces came into play and it
actually started looking like a plane. Not quite sure
what kind of a plane but it does have the wings, rudder and
ailerons.
We have had lots of laughs from other people and those
that have just stood back and scratched their heads.
For those that know Dave, this was not a surprise.
The plane is 4' tall with a wing span of 7'. The plane weighs 25lbs.
Which of course has to have two people to carry it out
to the flying field.
We have made a couple of attempts
to fly it, but are having technical difficulties.
It taxis down the
flying field just fine. The first attempt we did not have enough power.
The second attempt, we got it on the field and powered it up.
When he hit full throttle we got a tremendous vibration from it.
He checked the motor and it was fine, so now he is going to go with a different
propeller and see if that fixes the problem.
Hopefully soon, she will be up in the sky!
I don't think he will lose sight of this one while in the sky.
